Bedroom Makeover: create DIY curtains for tall windows

More rooms, more DIY curtains for tall windows. Here’s an easy tutorial for you to replicate the process, easily and cheaply.

After the success of my first attempt at customising basic curtains from Spotlight (a chain of fabric and homemaker supplies retailer in Australia), I was ready to tackle the curtains for my two bedrooms.

I’ve taken a different approach to this post to give you a birds eye view of the process.

The challenge: I wanted to reuse ready-made curtains I previously purchased on sale from Spotlight, but they were too short (in height and width) for my large windows.

The solution: I had enough sets of existing ready-made curtains to create custom look. I just needed some extra silk fabric in a different colour and material to create the extension.

{I chose a panel fabric that I could use for both sets of curtains}

The process:

All of the sewing was a simple straight line. Nice and easy. there may be a more professional way to do it, but my approach was simple and got the job done.
